I'm a Harvard-hopeful having some trouble deciding my junior year courses. So far, these are my definite courses:

AP Language & Comp
AP USH
AP Chem
Honors Spanish
Honors Precalculus

The way my schedule works, I have to choose between Honors Physics or AP Stat for my 6th course. I cannot take both. If I take physics as a junior, I will take AP Physics as a senior. If I take AP Stat instead of physics, I will take AP Bio as a senior. Any advice as to which would be better? If this helps, I'm extremely driven and willing do to an enormous amount of work. My primary interest is actually English, in which I hope to major (my work has won several awards, like scholastic awards and such). I am also interested in a career in the business field.

Normally, students who wish to take AP-Physics also take AP-Calc. If you do not plan on taking AP-Calc, then you should not plan on taking AP-Physics in your senior year. If you are interested in the business field, AP-Stats might be the more useful class to take. Beware though, if you are considering using AP credits for Advanced Standing, that some colleges do not grant credit for AP-Stats.

Also, Biology involves a lot of memorization. For some students, that's not a problem. For others, it is a hurdle.

Which AP Physics is it? I'm taking the non calculus based one, and its still a struggle. I don't think I could have managed taking it combined with AP Chem and APUSH, however sciences and maths are my weakness. I am currently taking AP Stat as well, and it's a class I really enjoy.

ap stats was my favorite class thus far in high school (and im a senior, so i guess that makes it my fav. hs class), but of course that is subjective. i also take ap physics and i really wish i had taken bio instead. i have to agree, the stats goes well with a prospective business career path.

im taking ap bio and physics honors junior yr..i like both classes, even tho i didnt like chem
also, i have heard that top colleges like harvard prefer to see physics honors on your resume over ap stat..of course there is no proof, but i can see why

those are the exact same classes i'm taking this year! from what i've heard from upperclassmen who are in either AP Physics or AP Stat, AP Stat is definitely the easier one although she makes them draw a lot of graphs almost every day. good luck!

that's strange - the core science classes as defined by my high school are Biology, an Earth Science (basically either earth science or AP Environmental), and Chemistry. i doubt you HAVE to take physics.

Take statistics. AP Chem by itself is already intense, don't throw the Physics in there. Check the AP situation for each college. Most of the selective colleges don't even give placement for Physics B.
