AP Statistics

What do I need to know for the test? The teacher is cool, but he hasn't really prepared us well for the exam. What should I study in particular? (and yes, I know the test is in 3 days)

Inferential stats formulas. Lots of inferential stats formulas.

what, like the chi-squared test? intervals? t-test? stuff like that?

Yeah. Make sure you memorize conditions, names, and interpretations, as well as creating hypotheses. Know binomial, geometric, sample, population, and sampling distributions, calculating means and standard deviations, and the differences between them. Know how sampling and blocking are conducted, and how to fulfill necessary parts of experimental design (control, randomization, and replication). It's also best to know how to interpret r^2, se, sb, r, slope, the y-intercept, and other things related to regressions, and where they can be found on a MINITAB output. The little things, like how many degrees of freedom a test has, are also important. Probability is a little less important than the actual statistics part.

Most importantly, know how to use your calculator!

What textbook are you using? I'm looking for one to self-study with next year.

The one i'm using kinda sucks, to be honest. I'm using the Barrons study guide though. it's a bit mechanical, but it does work.

I really liked David Bock's book Stats: Modeling the World. It made statistics fun. :)

What should you know for the test? How to write. That's pretty much the most important thing you need to know.

You really only need to know a few formulae for inferential statistics....it's really not that hard to derive the others once you have the basic formula for z and t test statistics. z=(sample mean-true mean)/(true SD/sqrt(n))

hah sucks for all you taking the reg test...i'm taking the alternate :D
hmmm well i think the most important things to know are the statistical significance tests, the correlation analysis, Z-intervals....i think thats the most important. good luck guys!
