AP Studio Art

During my freshman year, I started the first level of studio art at my high school, and I was planning on taking AP Art as a senior. I transferred to a new school last year, though, that does not offer art courses, so I figured that I would not be able to create a portfolio. I did some research and found out that you can create a portfolio outside of school and submit it to College Board. I am planning on doing so because I enjoy art and I have developed considerable skill throughout the years. Although I plan on majoring in some type of business in college, if I get a good score, will this help on my college application? Will colleges view it as a committed extracurricular activity, because it does take a lot of time and hard work to create a portfolio, and because my school does not offer the AP Studio Art program?

Yes, colleges will consider it a valid EC, especially with the College Board review. Good luck.

Yes, it definitely will be and will also be a positive thing, because you are essentially “self-studying” AP Studio Art.

Good luck!

Thank you, both of you!
