Ap test vs subject test us history

What's the difference? I heard ap is a lot harder?

Both are USH from Columbian times to present with attention to detail. Both require you to know why events occurred, how they occurred, etc. I don’t think they are much different. AP has the essays, and that’s about it.

They have exactly the same curriculum.
If you’re taking APUSH now, it would be smart to get a humanites SAT II off your chest without much extra studying.

How important are the dates for the subject test? I took the practice questions on collegeboard and although it didnt specifically ask for a particular date, they ask for stuff like “in the 16th to 18th century… This and that happen”

I don’t remember there being a lot of date-specific questions, but know big ones - like Cortes coming, Gettysburg, etc.

It’s nice to know the dates so that if you get a question you aren’t positive on, knowing the relative date/time period could be helpful.

You dont need to know specific dates…just what time periods they happened. It’s pretty general though…like what happened in what century. Doesnt get much more specific than that.

I thought the SAT USH had some weiiiird specific facts, but not dates. And you can usually guess what happened by looking at the other choices, using process of elimination…etc.

I don’t really know which one is harder…I mean, the SAT has a really generous curve. YOu can miss a BUNCH to get 700+. The big difference is that AP is for houuuurs while SAT is only an hour and doesnt have any writing. The writing on the AP exam really killed me so it was nice just doing MC for the SAT…
