If you failed an AP exams, can you take some kind of exams in the college to skip that course so you don't have to repeat a whole year of the course?

P.S. Let me know if I have posted in the wrong category, thank you~!

No, you will just have to take the course like everybody else.

It depends on the school, but at least my school had math and language placement tests. With the other subjects, they required at least a 3, and a 5 for one or two subjects.
But if you failed the AP exam, it probably wouldn’t be in your best interest to skip the class anyway.

At my college you can take any course with the permission of the instructor even if you do not satisfy the official prerequisites. That might be an option if you have some extenuating circumstances for failing the AP exam (e.g. not finishing the exam because you got sick halfway through).

However, I agree with clarinette52 that most students who fail an AP exam would not want to skip the college course anyway. In fact, many students with AP credit opt to retake the college course because the college course often covers different material.

Could OP not take the CLEP test?

yeah you can take the CLEP. but most serious University dont accept it. Although I think most community college accept it towards their degrees.

Yea, not all colleges accept CLEPs and they don’t always correspond to the credit you can get with APs - for example, I don’t believe that there is a CLEP that covers calculus.

I believe that most colleges do give exams that grant credit (at least, all the ones I’ve dealt with have). It’s basically the final exam that they give to the class.

My cousin had to take the Spanish CLEP because when she arrived for her Spanish AP exam they had accidentally grabbed the wrong form for her and told her she was screwed. Her university took it. shrug

you can actually take the AP exam again - just say you’re a homeschooled student.

If the school accepts Clep test then you can clep it. You would have to check with the schol to which ones they accept.

And there is a calculus clep test.
