AP Tests

I got my AP test scores back and I had a few questions.

If I did bad in the class (C’s), but well on the AP test (3’s and 4’s), is it going to look bad?

I also self-studied some classes this year, and got 2’s on both of them. Should I withhold them or put them in? Will it look bad on my application?

Thanks!

For the classes that you got 3’s and 4’s in, submitting your scores could signal to the admissions officers that you may have had a difficult class, but you were able to do well on the exam. Personally, I would submit the scores.

I would not put self-studied tests that you got 2’s on… that is like saying “Hey, I didn’t take the AP class in HS, and I didn’t study very well and didn’t do well on the test.” That is not a positive for you.

It looks a little bad to get C’s in the class and 4’son a test…that says “I slack off in class”…Colleges don’t want you to slack off in their classes.

As a general rule, submit 3s and above, because a 3 is passing. However, I agree with what @bopper said- having a C in the class might show that you slacked off, and you probably don’t want to give that impression to colleges.

@bopper Couldn’t it also show that the class was very rigorous?
