***AP U.S. HISTORY 2015***

I’m hoping the curve will be generous since no one really knows what to expect! I’m hoping for a 4 or 5!

I didn’t pay much attention to the class and my teacher had a bad attitude everyday. I watched crash courses which didn’t help. The day before the test I found a 1hr review on youtube, watched that, took notes on it. I got a 4.

Yeoooo everybody!! So I am a junior taking APUSH and I’ve already taken Euro and World with a very good teacher, so I have good background information; however, I didn’t learn absolutely any APUSH bc I noticed that I could get an A in my class without studying for tests. Now I’m not ready for the ap exam. What’s the best review book? Best YouTube recap vids? Any suggestions??

@baller55‌ Lol, I’m in a similar situation. My teacher doesn’t teach well at all, but she inflates our grades so much (which is nice, I love having a 97 despite failing every test

@TotallyTrudy‌ I bought the Barron’s and think I’m gonna buy the crash course, I’m aiming for a 4, would be fine with a 3, and ecstatic with a 5. I’m taking four other APs so this should be a fun month

Started reading through the Essential Content, planning on finishing it in ~5 days, and then starting AMSCO. I’m taking the SAT II, too, so I’m kind of desperate.

@glasshours what’s amsco

@baller55 It’s kind of like a mini textbook or a very in depth review book. It’s really good though and has a lot of practice questions and essay prompts.

My teacher is kind of terrible. He does lecture, but he gives tests that aren’t in AP format at all and doesn’t really check the essays… so I honestly have NO IDEA how to write a DBQ, long response, short response…
Anyways: here’s what I’m using.
Just bought the AMSCO book (2015 edition)
Jocz Production videos
Practice tests from 500 questions before test day, 5 steps to a 5, official college board exam 2015, and others

I’m not sure about the Essential Content since the test was completely reformatted. People say it’s useless for the new exam. To be honest, I only know up to 1890. HELP

@glasshours‌ @TotallyTrudy‌ should I buy it? How long will it take me to finish it all?

@baller55‌ - To add on to what @TotallyTrudy‌ said, you can also find a PDF version of the old edition online if you don’t want to buy the 2015 one

@zeppelins - Same, we’ve only practiced one DBQ this entire year (and it was a take-home). :frowning: Planning on just reviewing the rubrics a few days before the exam…it worked for AP World last year, so hopefully it’ll work again.

Honestly, I don’t think the test changed THAT much – you still need to know the same content. I’ve read through ~30% of the Essential Content so far, and it’s really great (especially if you’re also studying for the subject test). AMSCO is really comprehensive, but the Essential Content does a better job at emphasizing patterns and the important details.

@baller55 I think you should definitely get it. I think it’s pretty cheap ($15?) I’m reading a chapter a day (10-15 pages). So let’s say you get it tomorrow and start, you’ll be finished with it with a couple days to spare before the exam day.

I’m very scared for the essays on this exam. We have not practiced any essays, and only two of our tests have had short answer questions. His tests do not reflect AP format at all. I don’t know how to write a DBQ. I really need a 4. What should I do?

@glasshours I was going to get it yesterday but decided on AMSCO because of the practice multiple choice questions and the essays :frowning:

@PhilipL look up Jocz Productions on Youtube, he has a great video explaining the rubrics in depth. Also, go to the official collegeboard website, and look up AP US History exam. They have a practice exam with what you should expect on this year’s test. Good luck

@zeppelins‌ Thank you! I have looked at the APUSH practice exam before, and all of the multiple choice questions have passages, graphs, posters, political cartoons, etc. to go along with them… Is this how the exam is going to be?! If so, I think I’m going to fail…

PhilipL: Yeah, I believe the exam multiple choice questions will all have accompanying historical sources: passages, graphs, cartoons, etc.

Does anyone know where I can find an answer key to the full online practice test that CollegeBoard posted on its website?

How do you all read through review books? Do you outline the chapters as you read, highlight/annotate, or just hope to retain all of the information?

@PhilipL‌ same! We are writing one long essay and one DBQ in class next week. We’ve only written one DBQ and it was outside of class. We’ve done two long essays, one outside of class, and one in class but not times. I’m really nervous!

@glasshours‌ so far I’m highlighting and annotating but i may start doing outlines…I also watch Adam Norris’s videos on youtube! I’m also reviewing the curriculum framework

I highlight my AMSCO book. I’d do outlines of it but it’d take way too long. I’m probably going to look online for outlines of the major information.
