rea is probably the best ap us history book.

REA is good, so i hear... do plenty of essays from collegeboard.com

how about amsco??? anyone

it's pretty good. we use it as a supplementary text for our class, mainly because it is really good, but we do have a boring textbook: black and white, up to 1989, just plain boring.

The AMSCO review book is awesome. I used it as my primary prep tool and got a 5 on the APUSH test. Then again, I did have a great teacher who prepped us with old MC and FRQ tests throughout the year.

My favorite books are REA and this unknown gem by John Newman called United States History - Preparing For The Advanced Placement Exam.

I'm using the Amsco book for most of my studying as well, and it seems better than most of the other review books i've seen.

Aignam, the "unknown gem" that you use is the AMSCO book that the OP is referring to.

Used AMSCO last year as a review book - it helped a ton. Do the 10-question quizzes at the end of each section and you'll be fine. Also, do the full-length practice tests and you should be even more fine. It's a really good review source.

I wnet through the course with nothing but amsco and it was great. I did well on tests and was able to get a 5 on the AP without using any other textbook or notes to study other than amsco.

I'll be damned. Missed that. Well then, amazing, amazing, amazing book. AMSCO and REA all the way.

amsco is definitely the best.

How does "5 Steps to a 5" compare?

i hate how the REA gives you 6 practice tests but NO REVIEW QUESTIONS

REA is the best however there are shortcommings no index

Barron's had the DBQ outlined in it last year. I only studied up to WWI and got a 4 so it had to be decent.

Princton Review is not too bad either.

AMSCO is best for material, Kaplan for preparing for the test.

I don't tihnk Kaplan is really that good for anything...
