AP US History subject test in 2 weeks and my class is still on Cold War? What do I do?!

So, I am in APUSH, and have done well in the class, but my teacher is terrible and my class is really behind and so the AP test is 3 weeks away and the SAT subject test is 2 weeks away and we are on the Cold War, so there is a lot more information to go. However, I am in spring break right now, and while he did not assign homework, I am planning to devote 8+ hours a day to APUSH because it is my only AP class. When we get back from break, he said he’s gonna speed teach us on Vietnam and Civil rights and all that stuff. But, should I go ahead and learn all the material by myself this week? Is that even possible? Or should I just review everything we’ve already learned? Can I get a 5? Anyone have any study suggestions?

please help

Yes, read ahead, and review. That way, you’d be more prepared when your teacher gets to that topic.

Cram with a test prep book.

I am going to. Does American history include modern America? Will I see anything past Vietnam?

Hahaha you think you guys are in a bad spot? In our class, our idiot teacher still has us in the 1920’s…

@basketball135 Yes, unfortunately both the SAT II and AP exams include things up to the 1980s, so you’ll have to study on your own. That being said, it’s not as bad for the AP exam, since you have some flexibility with your essays.

I honestly think you will be fine. Just get a prep book and read a bit more on the things that you have not covered. I mean you have a book so there’s no reason you can’t simply just read ahead. I was in Honors US History and by the time I took the AP US test (for fun, with no real expectations) we were still on WWII. There were a few open ended on the Cold War, but most of them were on what was in between. In the end, I got a 790 for the subject test and a 5 on the US History AP test. The AMSCO study guide for the US History is exceptionally good - detailed enough but also providing summaries of each chapter, I’d try that. I used a combo of that, my notes, and Princeton Review

Thanks!

You get to chose?

Yup, you can choose the long essay question you answer from 2 options, and apparently there will be some element of choice in at least half of the short answer questions as well.

@slimman131 so what are you going to do? OMG

wow, did not know that! @OrchidBloom

I’m really not sure what the complaint is. The Cold War is more or less the end of US History/World History, I doubt on both the subject test and the AP test you’ll get more than 2 questions about anything that happened from 2000 onwards.

Don’t worry! You’ll be fine. My APUSH teacher has literally only talked about current events the whole year (and by current events I mean praising Obama lol), and I think I’ve more or less managed to cram all of the US history material into my head the past two weeks or so. Although the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement were monumental, they are not very hard topics to learn on your own. If you are committing more than 8 hours per day to this test, there is absolutely no doubt that you can learn it well.

We have yet to do vietnam, reagen, civil rights, anything in the 2000s, and we skipped like 6 chapters, and we did ww1, ww2, and cold war in two days. @QuadMaster
