***AP US History Thread - 2016-2017***

@HelloThereHola Same!

Our class lost lots of time this year too and we’ve had to learn things on our own which sucks. I’ve been watching so many youtube videos this week my head hurts.

5 days to learn 500 years of American history. We got this.

Y’all I took APUSH last year and got a 4. My teacher barely taught us and I never opened up a textbook or even bought a review book. Just watch all the videos Adam Norris has (and I mean ALL of them) and you’ll get at least a 4.

After this big math test tomorrow… I’m gonna start cramming! i feel like im comfortable with everything past the 1800s, but then I’m like “What the heck is a whig”
Literally gonna treat amsco as my bible and Adam Norris as Jesus. Good luck studying! Since my class is a big joke, I’ll be so happy if I land with a 4.

@macktheknife It helps to connect the Whigs with everything Jackson hated.

Oh APUSH. I actually loved history before this year - I still like it, the class itself is great, it’s just four hours of workload a night. Adam Norris is truly god’s gift lmao

Where would i be without Adam Norris? Dead in my own grave of doubt and failure…

Do any of you have any tips for me, I am taking APUSH next year, maybe tell me if I should start this summer, or buy which prep book?

@Colina1234 Probably be best to ask us after we take the exam and see how we did. Wouldn’t want to give you advice which then proves to be ineffective if we get a 1 on the exam.

I understand, good luck on your exam guys May the 4th be with you when you are cramming everything.

I took the 2016 and 2015 exams and missed 5 and 4 questions respectively. Is that a safe 5? Assuming similar results on the essays.

I took the 2016 exam, self study and all I really used was Amsco to score a four. I was suprised but my at my first self study. For advice: Know the format of the frq, for example knowing that you have to use synthesis, contradiction in evidence are all necessary. It’s all a point system. When I opened my booklet the first page tells you what your supposed to have in your essay, I basically made sure I followed all of those. Plus Amsco has nearly the same mc format questions as the real test! Be sure to get it!! I’m sure some of my mc were the same as in the book.
Some answers can be found on quizlet from the book.

Adam Norris is a great source, using for gov right now cramming lol.
Apush is memorization and connection of themes, study how history contrasts itself,
. They almost always give cartoons of short frq and ask about early us development.
Good luck!! And remember you will need this stuff for gov, don’t forget like I did.

@studentathlete18 Yes. Youd pretty much have to fail the FRQs to get below a 5

You can still get a 5 without getting everything right. MC counts the most and you should definitely make sure you study the rubrics for the frqs… on the dbq you can get like a 4 or 5 out of 7 without even using the documents!

So does anyone think the LEQ will be something other than periodization? Both the 2 years before had the periodization historical thinking skill.

I really hope it’s not on periodization because that’s what I’m weakest on (esp period 8 and 9 which is where the last two DBQs were from) but gaaah who knows at this point

Good luck to all you guys taking the exam tomorrow! I wouldn’t worry too much about the essays coming out of period 8 or 9 as they have been the last couple years. It’s more likely to be on Jackson, the Civil War or Revolutionary War.

Ahhh @history1000 very good call! Just got out of the exam w/ Form O and damn some of those MCs were unusually tricky

I had pretty good MCs but my leq was not pretty haha ^^;;; I’m pretty sure I passed but I really hope I did better. Hope everyone felt good on the test.

What form did everyone get? I got form C
