tomorrow's my test on recosntruction

My class is on Indsutrial Supremacy--like Carnergie, Rockefeller, corporations, etc. Anyone know waht a good book is for AP US?

we're gonna test on the Industrial Revolution tomorrow and we're gonna start the Roaring 20s/WWI on Wednesday

We're using 2 textbooks:
The Story of America
The American Promise: A History of The United States

and I'm using the REA AP exam practice book...

we're on the roaring 20s....we go at a fast pace

i love the roaring 20s, havent studied them yet, but very glamourous haha

Our class never made it past WWII. Sadly.

Yeah, we're here too. We just took the "Gilded Age" test today.

For some reason our teacher didn't talk at all about the gilded age. One more thing I gotta self study.

Really? That whole period is the gilded age..a term coined by Mark Twain describing the corrupt politics/buisness--shiny on the outside, and corrupt on the inside.

sarorah i mentioned the guilded age to him in class and thats exactly what he said. We probably covered it, but not necessarily under that name.
Heres a couple good jingles from APUSH:
"Remember the Maine! To Hell With Spain" Spanish American War
"In God we trusted, In Kansas we busted." Kansas farmers broke because of weather conditions, deflation debt, etc.
Why was America like a lady throwing a stone (During the Spanish American War)?
Because it aimed for Cuba and hit Manila. (My teacher said people never even heard of Manila and wondered why America was attacking it.)

We just finished the age of imperialism and are started with good old columbus.
I think everyone should say where they started too because my friends at a diff. school are two about 20 years ahead of me but they started with the Salem Witch trials. It will give us a better idea of how much we have covered

i started in the age of exploration, and today i just tooka three chapter test covering the progressive movement, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Spanish-American War, and World War I.

We just finished the Great Depression and are moving on to the New Deal. We're going to finish our book in 8 weeks (1 chapter a week) and will go up to September 11, 2001.

Looking at what most people posted, I feel we're going a little slow but I know the apush test doesn't go up to 2000. Probably 1990 at the most. It's not bad though to do the "extra" info that's not covered on the test. Asher, a really good quote I like is by Mary Elizabeth Lease: "What the farmers need to do is raise less corn and more hell." Our apush teacher said that quote a lot. And there is another one that was describing the early colonial times becoming more mixed..like a father is german and a mother is dutch and the son is something..I liked that too. I like your quotes too. :p

Test on WWI next week.

sarorah its good but it just doesnt have any zing.

Next Friday is our last day in APUS. Then we switch to AP U.S. Gov't.

We're finishing up the '70s on this Friday's test.

test on vietnam war next week

No zing eh? Hmm. Well yeah..I see what you're saying

Ha ha...I'm done with APUSH for the year...block scheduling. But in retrospect, US History in 11 weeks is really not a good idea. We barely finished WWI. And I have to try to remember it until May (but I finished before Thanksgiving).
