I'm considering taking the APUSH exam in May although I do not take the class (it is not offered). I'm also taking AP Chemistry (which is not easy) because I have a first year Chem teacher (a nerdy chemical engineer with a PhD in Chem). I'm planning to study for both exams from April 2nd to exam day. I'm definitely taking the AP Chemistry exam, but I was wondering what your thoughts were on the APUSH exam.

In 8th grade & 10th grade, I took US History I (my school does not allow us to place out of history classes.) Currently, as a 11th grader, I'm taking US History II. I have done really well in all my US History classes (mid-to-high 90s).

Also, I will most probably take the SAT II Chemistry & US History on May 6th. How similar are they to the AP exams? Should I wait until the June exams and take those 2 SAT II's and the Math 2 exam?

What are you thoughts? Do you think I should take it? I know I would definitely have to study hard for the test because I probably would have not have covered some USH2 topics by May. Also, this would pretty much guarentee me like a 100 on my US History II final.

One more question: I heard that I can send specific AP scores to each college. So if I do poorly on one exam (God forbid), but well on the other - I can send colleges the good scores...unlike the SAT 1's & 2's.

well, i think you may do fine on the multiple choice section of the apush exam. but without the writing instruction from an ap teacher, you will not know how to approach the DBQ or the FRQ's. so, i don't think you should take it.

I'm assuming the DBQ = those questions on primary source documents?
If so, we have a lot of those on our history tests, but I thought they were pretty easy to interpret. Also, on our history tests, we have an essay for each chapter, too.

How about just taking the SAT II US History? I could really use 2 AP exams on my transcripts because I can only take one AP class junior year.

i'm not sure what you mean by "primary source documents," but on the AP exam you receive generally more than 10 documents and you have to write an essay on the given topic using the documents as support.

I would definitely suggest taking the SATII Us history. I took it about 6 months after APUSH ended, and i got a 780 w/o studying.

I think I'm still going to take the APUSH exam. I figure that I have more than a month to study for 2 AP exams, both of which I'm somewhat decent at. Also, if I do poor on APUSH I can always not send the scores to the colleges I'm applying to.

Does anyone think that taking APUSH will affect my AP Chemistry score?
