1) No. You can take them in any order you want.

2) “Harder” in terms of question difficulty would be AP no doubt. But in terms of the curve, SAT IIs are worse.

3) I scheduled mine on May, because by that time I would be done studying overall so 1 week won’t make any difference. If I scheduled mine on June then I probably would forget many details in a month, therefore I have to re-read the notes probably a week before.

Whatever works for your son works, I guess. We all have our own way of doing things.

I personally want that extra month to study and to get familiar with the Subject test format vs. AP. I’m also not so confident in my math so I definitely need another month

I took the SAT II US History first so I could make sure I did not have any gaps for the APUSH test that was the next week. There were a couple of things I went back and looked at before the AP after I took the SAT II. I used the REA AP Crash Course book for both and got a 780 and a 5.

@hornfrogfan Did you use any other prep book, or just your textbook and Crash Course?

I’m taking the SATII USH on May 1st; I figured since I need to study for APUSH this month I might as well take the SATII while the review is fresh in my mind. I also didn’t want to stress myself out just yet over the SAT Reasoning so I decided to leave that for June while I get APs, SAT: US History and Math 2 done early May.

edit: gah am I really browsing this site at 2 in the morning? >.>

Totally agree with Hornfrogfan. Take the SAT II US History test on May 1. Use Crash Course to review. It will totally dominate the test. The SAT II provides a great review for the AP multiple choice questions. For the last two years several questions on the May 1 SAT II have appeared on slightly different form on the AP Exam. Amazing but true!
