AP Where are you at??

Macbeth is required for AP English Literature. its i think is the only required literature book

smackedk- I'm using Silberberg Chemistry (I think 3rd edition, the one with the black cover and all the molecules on the cover) yeah we are in the middle of the electron configuration/chemical periodicity chapter (we'll have a test friday) but yeah you're right the quantum stuff was tough with deBroglie wavelength = h/mu and heisenberg uncertainty principle and schroedinger's equation....yeah crazy stuff.

AP Spanish: Miguel de Cervantes' "Don Quijote de la Mancha" yeah and for gramma we finished pluperfect: yo habia trabajado... and the other one: yo he trabajado, nosotros hemos trabajado. good stuff. we're starting subjunctive soon.

BC Calc: integrals + just finished the fundamental theorem of calculus

anyone taking AP Psychology in here?
I plan to take it next term..............im taking regular psychology right now my teacher said AP Psychology is only half a year........@@........

what is teh best prep book for AP English lit? I need to get one becasue my teacher is teaching us jack about the test or about english.

Well, I'm in Los Angeles, and school didn't start until Sept. 8, so I expect to be a little bit behind most of the others who started in August -- but anyway, I'll just say what we've done and what we're currently doing:

AP Biology: We've done everything in the first part of the course (Molecules and Cells), except for Photosynthesis which we're doing tomorrow and Friday. We've also done Labs 1, 2, 3 and 5 so far...

AP Calculus AB: Limits and Continuity, Derivatives, and currently finishing Applications of Derivatives.

AP English Language: The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, Tea & Sympathy, Ethan Frome and currently reading Huck Finn. We've done a bunch of essays and vocab, though.

AP US History: Chapter 17 in American Pageant (Manifest Destiny and Its Legacy, 1841-1848).

let me see:
AP chem: over the summer we did the first four chapters in ZUMDAHL (anybody have it?) easy stuff like atom and stoichiometry. we've covered gases, thermochem, structure and periodicity, bonding (ionic and covalent) and we're now on liquids and solids.

AP phys. Started the year with linear motion, then forces, 2-d motion, newton's 3 laws, and now we're on work and power. we're having a test sometime next week on work and power because over half the class just bombed (D or F) the last quiz. we're supposed to have all the mechanics stuff done by the end of first semester, so that second semester can be devoted to electromagnetism: only thing is, most colleges don't accept E&M so we're not sure how we'll approach that this year.

AP calc BC: just had a big test on definite integrals and antiderivatives.

AP english (not really literature or writing, kinda both): we read les Mis and the Fountainhead over the summer and did short stories for most of the first quarter. Just read oedipus the king and am now starting hamlet.

I get to have AP euro next semester with one of the best teachers in the school, yes!

Hey astrobob,

we also have the Zumdahl text in AP Chem. I don't use it except for the hw problems because my teacher is really good. We started school EXTREMELY late (mid-late sept) and are on gases right now.

english lit: reading othello
physics C: finished center of mass, doing torque stuff now

yeah,i hardly ever crack that book open. My teacher is pretty good, our class is a whole lot of fun. every wednesday and friday we go for breakfast in the cafeteria (chemistry alternates 1-2 period with ap physics). that, and i'm a chemistry super-genius ;). eh, i think i can get away with that around here, i got a 790 on the SAT II after honors chem so yeah know. anyways, we also used the book for looking at the pretty pictures of bonding becuz our teacher can't draw worth anything.

AP English-- we cover British lit first semester (among other things, but we're on Renaissance now), and i think second semeseter is like review for the ap test. since freshmen year, we made "book cards" for every book we read so i guess now we just compile all of those book cards and read them over.

AP Physics B--we're on waves and stuff... SHM... i think this class is moving kinda fast...

ummm...hmmm..my BC class is on related rates and applications of derivatives.

My situation...
I learn more calculus in AP Physics C than I do in my BC Calc class.
BC - we have not done anything with integrals yet, I'm getting frustrated

grumptions, are you using the Giancoli book? We are also on waves and fluids- we're doing one chapter a week.

yeah. i'm using giancolli. we did two chapters every week and a half, but now we just switched teachers (our old teacher is retiring), which really sucks. our new teacher... it's like her first time teaching an AP class, and she doesn't know what to do. hopefully it'll work out.

ok, might as well chip in:

biology: mitosis
spanish: nothing... just reading books and reviewing stuff
stats: probability & venn diagrams
physics c: just finished rotation... probably starting up E&M soon.
lit: reading King Lear during school plus East of Eden at home. Already read Crime and Punishment and Tess of the D'Urbervilles

grumptious: well, you pretty much know everything to do well on the Physics B exam by now. All I need to do is to review all the stuff we covered so quickly over thanksgiving. I have no idea what my teacher is going to do next semester(probably finish the whole book).

AP Chem: Chemical Bonding (Chapter 8)
AP English: Completely random stuff. We've done Song of Solomon, Empire Falls, Hesiod's Theogany, Homeric Hymn to Demeter, random poetry, and outside reading
AP Spanish: Review vocab and grammar somewhat but mostly just do oral presentations and write compositions on random topics
AP Calc AB: Absolute extrema

What texts is everyone using for ap physchology? I'll be doing as an independent study sometime when i can get around to it.
AP bio: some environmental stuff and divergence, convergence
AP calc: just had a test on integrals
AP spanish: not really doing nething...finished stuff on imperfect subjective and si clauses

AP Calculus AB-- We are finishing derivatives and will start integrals after Thanksgiving Break. Last class, we did Newton's Method; I think that's what it's called.

AP Physics B/C-- Just finished vectors and angular acceleration things. I'm not sure what to call it; I'm really tired. It's the rotational inertia, angular acceleration, that stuff. Three classes ago, we did a lab on the rate of precession of a wheel.

AP German V is a joke. I've had an A+ both 6 weeks so far. Currently, we are reviewing third year grammar because the fourth year students cannot write or speak at all.

My school's equivalent of AP English Lit-- We read Sophie's World, Hamlet, The Inferno, and right now, we are doing Frankenstein. Last year, we read Othello, Macbeth, The Scarlet Letter, The Grapes of Wrath, Native Son, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Good Earth, and Memoirs of a Geisha. (I'm missing a book somewhere in there). Before winter break, we have a senior thesis due; I believe it is somewhere between 10-15 pages. As a result, we will not do a lot of reading until after break. Next semester, I think there are about 8 or 9 books planned.
