AP World History Exam or No exam?

I am a sophomore and have taken AP world history. I am planning on not to take the AP test because I already know what major I want to do in College and thats Pre-Med. It requires not history credits and I feel taking the test will be a waste of money. I am also not that good at history and don’t care much for it, should I take the test?

BUMP, cmon people:)

Yes, even if you don’t take it, NHS takes into account the number of AP’s a person takes and also it might affect your application if you take the course but not the exam.

If you think that you can pass, go for it. Having AP awards is something you can list on the awards section of your college apps if you have nothing else. However. if you don’t think that you will do very well, taking the test would just bring down your AP average, something you don’t really want as some NHS selection committees or scholarships look at that.

So if I take an AP class but no test, will it worsen my application? That sounds ridiculous?! What is NHS committees?

At some schools, there is a cap on the number of people that can join National Honor Society (NHS), so people will submit applications containing grades and references to a NHS selection committee to see if they will be admitted to the organization. I guess it really depends on your school, but I would think that if you would rather concentrate on a different subject area or AP test, and probably won’t do as well on the World exam because you don’t enjoy the topic, then don’t take it. In my opinion it’s better to not take the exam at all than have it negatively affect your AP average, etc.

I would look at the colleges that you are considering and see if they offer credit for passing the World exam. You might be set on your major plan now, but the future is uncertain and that may change. So if any credit is granted for World, hit the books and try to pass the exam, regardless of the jumble that chronology and the rise and fall of nations can be.

I realize that ^^^was conflicting, I’m just offering reasons for take it/don’t.

Oh, I’ve been already accepted into NHS, I am in for the rest of high school now, so no need to worry about that. ASU is where I will be going, and I am 100% sure that when I graduate, I will be applying for a Biochem major(Pre-Med). I’ve checked the major maps and no world history courses are required. Thanks. BUMP! I need more advice.
