AP World History - Help -

Hello all. I am looking for some advice as to how I should prepare for the upcoming APWH test. I am currently enrolled in the class and am doing good ( A, overall average). What worries me is that I have just taken a diagnostic test from my test prep book and I completely bombed it. I got a 31/70. I am not sure what I need to do in terms of raising my potential score on future practice tests and eventually the real exam. Thanks again for any advice/help.

My kids have always done great (5), with Kaplan books for all the tests. ACT and SAT too!

I am currently using the “5 Steps to a 5” test prep book perhaps I can get a Kaplan book as well I guess

Hi, I take APWH last year and my teacher was awful. He was a great guy, but was not good at teaching so basically I had to teach myself the entire years curriculum. I used the 5 Steps to a 5 book and that helped me with multiple choice practice and writing the essays. I also used the Crash Course book and I found it fantastic. I read through the entire book and highlighted it the week before the test and it was a great review of all the actual material. I got a 5 on the test so I guess something must have worked. Hope this helps and I would be glad to answer any questions.

Hey maymay5678, if you remember, how do you think multiple choice questions from the 5 steps to a 5 textbook compared to the actual m/c questions on the exam? Were the questions on the actual test relatively similar, harder, easier? Thanks

I think they were pretty similar. I know for a lot of my friends they had problems with the multiple choice though. The questions that weren’t similar to the ones in 5 steps had decent sized passages (nothing like an ap english test would be, but still a good 2 or 3 sentences) and a lot of them had time management issues with leaving enough time to read and analyze those questions. Personally, I’m a fast reader so they didn’t bother me as much and they still reminded me of the 5 steps to a 5 questions in difficulty level, you just have to get past all the words for the questions which I know freaked a lot of people out (at least at my school).
