I’ll be taking Honors American Studies at my school (as a sophomore), which allows students to take the AP USH exam if they’re willing to read the second half of The American Pageant. Would it be wise to do a AP World History self-study simultaneously? I took World History last year but there was no option to take the AP test.

Additionally, how would one go about self-studying for AP WH? What textbooks cover the entire curriculum, and what books are the best to study for the exam? Or is self-studying not a wise decision?

Considering they just revamped the APWH course i would advise you just to focus on US history.

I’m not sure how rigorous your US history class will be or if it will start at pre Colombia.

Make sure you get a guidebook to supplement what you’re learning and not to neglect 1865-1980.

I can almost guarantee that if you thoroughly look through all of the DBQ’s and FRQ’s on collegeboard and look over the answers the FRQ’s will be easy.

If you thoroughly read through crash course/ other guidebook it will make the MC’s easy. the 2001 MC i got 72/80 and it was all covered in Crash Course.
