I'm going to be tested on Unit I, Foundations to the classical era: 40,000-8000 B.C.E.-600 C.E. in my AP World History class. All questions will be essay/extended-response/DBQ. What is the best way to prepare for these? Also, throughout the unit, we had to study articles by Braudel, Wallerstein, Coatsworth, and Bentley (all of these are famous historians). How would I use the points of these people as evidence in my responses? Also, how would I use some other primary sources like creation myths as supporting detail?

Thanks in advance!

the best way to study for dbq’s, change/cont over time, and comparison essays is to simply study the general TRENDS of social/economic/political aspects of the various regions/regimes you’re studying. thats basically the key to getting an A on essays and a 5 on exam

(I got an A in the class+ 5 on the exam 2 years ago)

Trends - Could you (or anyone else) please be a bit more detailed about trends? Can I have some examples of what trends I should see? Also, how do these trends relate to the Braudel, Wallerstein, Coatsworth, and Bentley papers? Thanks!

make outlines…find general themes in your text and come up with examples to back it up. use politics, economic, geography, and sociology (pegs) as themes, and find changes and continuities within them.
