I am a rising sophomore and next year I will be taking World History Honors. My school says that students may take the AP but that the course does not fully prepare you for it. If I also self study, do I have a chance to get a 5?

The honors course may help to prepare you with the material you will be tested on, but definately get a review book to make sure you are learning everything the exam will cover. You’ll have to get familiar with the format of the exam to do well, and this is especially important if you’re shooting for a 5.

I thought world history was a pretty hard exam, personally. There is just so much info covered, and ESPECIALLY a lot of comparisons (which requires you to know twice the info.) My whist teacher was great but her honors class was childs play… If you do self study I recommend you make your studying year round, so it all REALLY is ingrained in your memory. Best of luck though!

i went through a regular world history class (we dont offer honors).
I got a 5. easy. with princeton review.

I think you should try it out. Just get Princeton review and a few real practice tests to make yourself familiar with the format of the exam :)
