Possible to self study for world history ap?

I will be taking world history 2 honors next year, one year ahead of the rest of my class, and I’m thinking about taking the world history ap. I wanted to take world history ap class from the start but my counselors said it may not be the smartest idea as a freshmen and all. So my question is: can I get a 5 with some practice at home, and if so, what kind of practice?

Of course! My teacher was terrible and got fired and I got a 4 from self-studying.

What kind of books should I get? I need something that teaches me everything I need for the test. Literally everything I would learn from a one year course at my HS. Should I get Barron’s or Princeton Review’s? Any other books I should take into account?

I found the Princeton was the best. No need for a textbook unless you need something to bore you to sleep

I also took an honors WH class and took the AP test (no APWH at my school), and I did fantastically on the test (with a lot of self-study) get the Princeton Review and Barron’s book, they are really great resources. I have talked to some people who’ve gotten 4s and above just from reading the review books cover to cover, of course if also depends on your own understanding and comprehension of the material, but if you can handle a lot of studying on your own, go for it!

I am another freshmen taking with your same problem (no joke). I think I’m going to do a lot of self studying with the Princeton review book, maybe some others, and hopefully all goes well. Good luck to the both of us!
