ermmm....the Russian Revolution was more violent. Also, after the revolution, the communists industrialized the country with 5 year plans and collectivization and Stalinization. The Iranian Revolution took place when Reza Shah Pahlavi (or was it Mustafa Kemal?) took over and overthrew the shah. He industrialized the country, and also westernized it, while Russia did not. Iran got rid of traditional Islamic customs such as the wearing of veils by women.

stanford1463 i really think youll get a 5 on the exam....n u sure will get into stanford :)
i dint even know there was such a thing as Iranian REvolution

Well, I guess I was looking for:
Reign Prior-
~ Russia had just gotten out of monarchy, and was in transitional provisional government before the revolution.
~Iran had an established monarchy (the Pahlavis) prior to the Revolution. I believe it was Khomeini that overthrew Shah Pahlavi?

Outcome-
~New Economic Policy that was very anti-communist, due to the desires of industrialization of people.
~A theocratic government emerged, with a mix of democratic (three branches) and theocratic (Supreme Leader, etc) established. While Pahlavi tried to secularize, the Islamic Revolution brought back a lot of Islamic tradition including shari'a, controversial Islamic law.

I had AP Comp Gov this year, so the six countries studied in the class are my strong point. Hopefully the FRQ's will involve them, but I doubt it.

can anyone answer my question about the essay...please ???
