Apartment for grad student

Can anyone give a recommendation for an apartment complex near the the University of Maryland - College Park for a graduate student? What areas within commuting distance are considered safer than others?
Thanks!

my son will be starting in August.

I will be attending UMD in the fall. I am from the Midwest and am in the area this week looking for apartments. Would either of you be willing to share anything that you’ve found?

Thanks!

Here’s a comparison of the cost of living at different places around the campus:

I got accepted for on campus housing but I didn’t think I would be so I was just about ready to sign a lease at the Towers of Westchester Park. It’s a few miles away from the campus and has a shuttle stop. It’s slightly more expensive than Silver Springs (which isn’t a bad choice since it has 4 shuttle stops within the community). Neither places have great reviews online, but I know people who have stayed in both complexes and thought they were decent given the area.
