My daughter and her friends will be renting an apartment next year we were trying to get them into one of the UF Safety approved ones but none worked out.
Any heads up regarding apartments to avoid ? They have seemed to like Campus Lodge but we are feeling a bit leary towards that one.

Search the threads from last spring (Jan/Feb/March) we had a discussion about this and there is a lot of information there.
I know of two kids who live at Campus Lodge but I haven't heard anything about it from them. I know of another girl who lives at University Club and likes it (likes her bus line, likes the development) but may be moving next year due to roommate issues. This girl's mom told me that she will not allow her to look at Campus Lodge due to safety issues (some incidents this year) but she didn't elaborate. My daughter lives at Oxford Manor on Archer. It is overpriced but she loves it there. It is gated and the gate is "manned" at night. She feels very safe there. She leaves her apartment about 20 minutes before a class to catch the bus (a very reliable and frequent bus line) and she likes that she is in a 3 bed/3 bath townhouse (two floors). Gainesville Place is very popular with my daughter's sorority sisters but can be noisy. Other places that I heard good things about are The Landings, The Estates, and Museum Walk.

Here is a good apartment website. It has some of the UF area apartments listed on a map (so you can see approximately where they are). You just click on each link for a brief description of each complex (with photos and prices).

I would recommend Oxford Manor and Gainesville Place. One of the bus routes for GP goes right through the complex, which is really nice. Noise will be an issue in any complex, a lot of it has to do with your luck with the neighbors you end up with. Campus Club isn't bad either.

I would also check out the Landings and Tivoli on 13th Street.
