Could you guys throw in some names for cheap apartments near Emory? (preferably in walkable distance)

Thank you :D

Emory is surrounded by apartments, but if you are a frosh or soph, you are required to live on campus.

Highland Lakes, Gables, and Clairmont Reserve are the 3 big ones that come to mind; Highland Lakes is the nicest and most expensive of the three. All are cheaper than living on campus (no more than $700/month including utilities, while on the Clairmont campus where most upperclassmen live it’s about $4,000 a semester). So even if you rent for a full five months per semester it’s still gonna be at least $500 cheaper. In addition the rent usually comes with a parking spot while on campus you have to pay $660 per year for a parking spot. Also, you don’t have to have a meal plan if you live off campus, and it’s definitely cheaper to cook on your own.

Of course with living off campus you miss out a lot of convenience and on some of the social life. And there’s definitely some more work involved in having to sign leases and pay rent + utilities every month than simply paying once for an entire semester.

Thank you!! Very helpful :D
