Apartments

Is it difficult to find apartments for incoming freshmen that will be living by themselves? Are there any good places you’d recommend?

Is it better to have one on-campus or off-campus?

it'll be pretty hard to find an on campus apartment at this pt unless you're willing to live with a random person who already has a lease for next year. the most popular places are probably colleges at la rue and primero grove but those are incredibly hard to get.

Freshmen should definitely live on campus. There are a handful who don't, but unless you already know someone who lives in Davis who you can live with, it's pretty hard to arrange.

The problem is most of the apartments have already been leased for next school year. People sign their leases in like February and March. You may be able to find a room somewhere in someone else's apartment, but as starry night said, it's probably going to be with a random person you don't know. It's just better to live in the dorms so you can get acclimated to college and campus with people who are doing the same thing you are.

dmission why don't you want to live in the dorms?

I'd rather live by myself, if possible

Get a single in a suite then. You will have the best of both worlds!

Are those tough to get, though?

The kids I know who signed up for them got them.

Ah, okay, thanks.
Any recommendations about which ones are good?

Okay, thanks.
Is off-campus still a possibility, since it's only March?

You could try to look at craigslist, facebook or at some of the suggestions here.

In addition to the reviews you can find within each apartment listing on the wiki, check apartmentratings.com for reviews. A map of apartment listings, rooms, and sublets that have been listed on Craigslist can be found on housingmaps.com (Type in Davis as a filter to see only the Davis listings.)

I really suggest living in the dorms though. It is such a huge part of the freshman experience.

Ok, thanks. Which part of Davis is the college at? N,S,E,W? I was thinking W?
So, would those be better ones to aim for?
