APES exam scores.

At my school, and maybe at others, it seems that most of the kids who take APES are kids that have not taken many other AP/Honors classes. They enroll because they hear it is "the easy AP" or a blow off class. But looking at the score distributions for AP tests, APES has some of the lowest scores of them all. Is this because kids underestimate it, or is the exam really just that difficult (or a mixture of both)?

Also, how difficult would it be to self-study APES and get a 5? I won't be doing this since it wouldn't help me much, but I want to get an idea.

I took the class, but not because It is considered “easy” to some people (I’m assuming in comparison to chem and bio) but because the quality of the teacher and class is better than other ap classes at our school. You could probably self study if you want. I got a 99 in the class, but was surprised at the level of difficulty of the exam, after hearing how easy it was. Don’t underestimate.

Its more of people underestimating it in my opinion because I know a lot kids in my class took the exam because they thought it easy and did nothing to study for it.
And are class is in the fall not year long, so they went months without looking at the material. Also a lot people try to self study the exam like a week before it.
