APP -- favorite book, movie, recording, etc.

I realized that I didn't put a movie down as my favorite movie. I put a musical -- My Fair Lady. It was either that or Guy and Dolls. (Marlon Brando is hot! Even though he's dead! <33)

but still, the question remains, does princeton want you to explain? yes/no?

i don't know, sometimes it seems trite to put what you truly think, i love the brahms vc, but it might seem like i'm putting that for the sake of seeming refined?

[quote]
i actually did put a classical piece as my favorite recording...hopefully they won't see me as an aristocrat-poseur-bastard. however, i didn't explain any of my choices

we think alike

I don't think they require you to explain why X is your favorite movie, etc. However, I did state explain only because I felt it provided a greater insight into my personality. For instance, my favorite song is "Hero" by Mariah Carey. Many people believe the lyrics, "when a hero comes along..." refers to a man coming in to your life and saving you. In reality, the "hero" is me and finding strength within myself, not someone else.

Frozen-Tears...

Let's assume you are talking about the young Marlon Brando...

i can't explain the brahms... unless i write something along the lines of "it sounds hella hard, and i aspire to play something as dope as that"

Yeh, just go ahead and use the word "hella" and "dope" in the App. That'll be good... lol

or *****in THAT would sit well with the princeton "peeps"

it might be refreshing...you never know, if I were an adcom, I would laugh myself silly if I see any of those words :D

you guys just want me to put that so i'll get rejected...

Hei, at least your being honest... I once heard about a guy who applied to Duke and dropped some lude sexual terms in his essay, but still got in... He must have been in the dumps, because his gf left him, but sure it might make some people suspicious... Then again it will make your essay stand out.. In a good way... That is debatable.

Do you think they would automatically reject me if I put down www.newgrounds.com as my favorite website?

definitely possible :p

haha well if I get into Princeton ED I think I will post my duke essays I wrote. In one sense I want to get waitlisted P-ton just so I can see if I get accepted at Duke or not. My ENTIRE application rhymes. Every single essay, every activity I've ever done, it kind of made doing all apps fun.

i think ED people should post their favorites...

How come on the common app supplement (online) Princeton only asks for two essays of 250 words each, yet on the Princeton official supplement (online) it asks for three essays, one 500, and two 250? I'm torn between which application I should submit...
