My friend hasent officially recieved a rejection but his dad works at the university and all employes are given their children's decisions early, so he knows he was rejected most likely. My question is has anyone ever heard of anyone appealing their decision and actually getting in? He is willing to take spring or fall semester and he does not have to stay in the dorms if space is an issue. Also if his appeal didnt work how long would he have to attend community college before he transfered? Thanks everyone! Maryland really was his first choice school.

I have never heard of a repeal occurring, but that doesn't mean it isn't so. Dad might be able to get a dean of one of the schools to ask admissions for a facor. I would think he would have to do 1 yr at CC and then transfer over for next yr. I am not sure, but is there a possibility he could take night school courses and try to enter that way? I.e. continuing ed.

i dont understand what he would do with night classes. I'm hoping he can still apply for the spring semester but it seems as though MD is already filling spots for spring!

He can register to take night classes, his grades would prove to UMD that he can handle the course load. It is possible to carry a full load of 12 credits at night for a semester. His transript would be UMD not a CC.

oh i understand! but i think he'd probabely beable to do that at a community college in the fall as well. Either way he decides to go he wont get in for this fall which is why he is appealing.

Are you sure that employees are given their children's decisions early? My dad works at UMD and didn't find out about my decision.

My friend got rejected last year, but did some sort of summer program and then took classes in the fall at a CC and was able to get in Spring semester with housing too.

Thanks so much! I hope he can get in earlier but if not spring is good to. We all know MD has trouble with their housing space so I know he'd be delighted to go even if he couldnt stay on campus
