My first choice of all schools which I applied(which is 8) is University Park.. I got accepted to Altoona and not UP and I'm very disappointed..My intended major is Petroleum&Natural Gas Engineering which is part of the Earth&Mineral Science School, not the engineering school..so one could imagine the competition is much lower as it is also not a very popular major..how can I go about getting an Appeal on my decision for getting it changed to University Park..I'm willing to do the Summer Session or whatever other options I have..Please if you have any tips or advice on what I could do I would very much appreciate it

brncyn,

My daughter was accepted to UP-Eberly for Summer 2011. We called and asked them to review her application as an undecided major for The Division of Undergraduate Studies. We found out this morning that she was admitted for Fall 2011. After a few semesters she’ll be evaluated and then be admitted into Eberly where she will finish her degree for her major.

Good Luck.

So when you called that’s all you asked for, a review of your daughters application… Or did you have to state a reason why, because I hear that it is discouraged upon… thanks for your response

my son was admitted summer to School of Engineering. I called and asked if he changed his major would it affect his chances of getting admitted to Fall instead. I was told that major made no difference. May try calling again???

I had this happen to me; I was rejected from the College of Engineering at UP, and told to pick a different campus or major. I was told I needed to speak with an admissions counselor (for whom phone duty starts at 10 am and ends at 4:30). I resubmitted as an undeclared student and (six weeks later) was accepted to DUS at UP.

How late can this be done? I received my admission to altoona as well but my first choice is university park. I would consider appealing to start in the summer if I will be accepted to upark, but I feel it might be too late to try this at this point. I was accepted to the college of engineering at altoona, and would changing to undecided possibly help my admission to upark?

Switching to undecided definitely helped me. You need to call the admissions people at UPark and tell them you were told to speak to an admissions counselor. Then tell the counselor what you wrote here.
