@OP honestly, dont bother. you fail to provide any additional evidence to support an appeal. seriously though, that gpa in art history? I agree with guitarfreak, UCLA does NOT want you. get over it.

@eager
Unfortunately they are going to factor in your OOS gpa as well. I would try appealing because your gpa without the OOS gpa isnt too bad. Give them “new evidence” and tell them your excuse for the low gpa. tell them what you have been doing this quarter. However, they will not factor in your grades for the classes you are taking now. It will take too long for you to get your finalized grades. try appealing and if that doesnt work I would just accept any other offers you have received or apply again next year.

My major is not art, it is art history, in letter and science area. You could go check admission profile for last two years, average gpa for transfer admission is 3.45 on my major. UCLA doesn’t say they need student with an average A grades.

@guitarfrk123
bc this is the second year that I got here, America. Have had a hardship in reading and understanding of the lectures.

@shinn
Oh right, art history is much harder. sorry I forgot.

I’m going to be blunt with you dude. Your D’s and C’s arent good enough. They know how easy those GE classes are.

I know you probably have trouble with english, but dont you think it will be a problem at ucla as well? ucla is going to be twice as hard at CC. If you cant understand the lectures at ucla, youre in big trouble.

go ahead and try appealing. Im not stopping you

@itzcaroll
Same situation. You got to appeal anyway, like somebody’s saying “it doesn’t hurt, right?”

I have once got an admission from Art Center College of Design (photography major. I’m doing pretty good on it, I have a published book.), but I gave up this chance, and only think about transferring UCs, as an art history major (be honest, this is what my parents insist, unfortunately I’m so damn obedient.)

I know this major doesn’t fit me well. I’m an international student, I came to the U.S. for only 2 years, its hard for me to compete in a letter and science major. I told myself that is what challenge is. I’m 20, and this is the best time in my life to study academic writing and analyzing in another language. That’s why I didn’t give up.

I’ve once been and always want be a competitive person in my group. Now I just feel depressed by this stupid rejection. I’m thinking of turning back to my original art major, quit this art history crap. I could re-apply Art Center and for sure I will be admitted again. Then I can still be a competitive person in my group, not like learning art history and being a gpa"low class" at school.

Am I too evasive? Do you guys think I should choose what I like and what fits me well, or challenge myself to learn what Im not that good at?

Hey man, sorry for being harsh before.

did you apply to ucd/uci/ucsd/ucsb? Im sure one of those will accept you. They are good schools.

"Do you guys think I should choose what I like and what fits me well, or challenge myself to learn what Im not that good at? "
Answer: follow your dreams and your passions. No matter what anyone (including your parents) say.

lastly, you will probably be more successful doing photography than art history. If you are an outstanding photographer, you could get well known. I dont know anything great you can do with that besides teaching or working at historical related places. the bottom line is, if you dont enjoy it (and it sounds like you do not), you shouldnt be doing it.

If you didnt get into a UC this year, you can spend another year where you are and get more As. then apply next year and youll have a great chance.

goodluck

thanks everyone…

before I didnt know that would effect my GPA… so I was filled with confidence…

after I realized it, I feel so hopeless hahaha…

but accepted to UCD in first wave… (now I am all suprised)

still pending UCI, UCSD and of course UCB

I am almost done with my appeal letter… anyone free/care to read over ?!

thanks again !

@eager
you got into UCD? WHAT ARE YOU WORRYING ABOUT?? ucd is an awesome school.

Thank you, guitarfrk! to your honest and your kind, hahaha!

I’ve applied SB and SD, but both of them are still pending. Yesterday I got a reply from SB saying my application hasn’t been reviewed yet, the evaluating processes won’t be done untill May 10th. (Sorry but, DAMN IT!)

The other major reason I choose art history is because it is the best way to apply for Art Management in graduate school. And that will be much related to what my family’s doing so far. I know… it’s stupid saying parents parents all the times. But I have done something really bad to them, once when I was in high school. I really don’t want let disappoint them again.

Alright I got to stop this topic bc it makes me frustrated these days. I need to calm down, go back to the essay that due tomorrow afternoon. I will calm down, make a decision, and be back at the weekend.

Btw, Thank you for having all of you guys here.

shinnnnn- I really wish you the best of luck, finish that essay and finish strong. You will get in the school that is meant for you!
Hang in there!!!
