Appeal for UC's

I was recently rejected from UCLA. I'm interested in appealing to the school and was wondering if this information could change my chances of getting in on appeal. I incorrectly put my mother's income as $81,000 when it is really $21,000. Also, in January 2008 my apartment went into foreclosure and I am forced to move. Would this help me get in on appeal as new/compelling evidence?

I also plan on explaining that my GPA wasn't as high as it could've since my father lost his job (providing documentation), and that I could not improve on my ACT score in Oct 2007 since the highschool I was going to test at was being used as a temporary shelter/red cross center due to the Wildfires in Southern California.

i hate tell you this but don't bother for the following reasons.....

the income for your mom doesn't affect you application, only for financial aid

while the lose of your father's job is unfortunate, it is a common occurrence (sadly) these days

the wild fires affected everyone in southern California (myself included, i was evacuated), the way the UC system made up for that is by letting those affected by the fire two additional weeks to apply

yea, its pretty pointless. Even with "significant" new info, the chances of a successful repeal is close to zero.

not only because of the reasons i listed above, but ucla was very strict in their admissions this year, and they will reject people if they aren't extremely qualified. this is only my opinion, follow what your gut instinct tells you to do. best of luck no matter what your decision is.

do it. the worst that could happen is that they wont change their original decision

and then you wont have to live with regretting not appealing....idk, thats my two cents

UC Davis actually really considers appeals and has the highest "re-acceptance" rate. Several people from my school last year appealed and got in.

Also, if you send an appeal to Davis and an appeal to LA, the campuses won't know that you sent out 2 appeals.
