i’m planning to appeal to ucsd. my friend told me appeal letters must be handwritten. is this true? she said she read it on the website. I checked on their website and it says " In order to insure all appeals receive through equal consideration, all appeals must be submitted in writing. UCSD does not accept appeals by telephone, E-mail or fax."
“all appeals must be submitted in writing” doesnt neccessarily mean the letter has to be handwritten right? it just means that we can’t discuss our appeal over the phone, through email or through fax, right?

yeah, i think they want to see a hard copy that you sent.

They want you to mail the appeal (as opposed to sending them something electronically) It can be wordprocessed and printed. But it must be mailed. And be sure to get a certificate of mailing from the post office. It's a small fee but proves you mailed it.

It can be typed. Ditto Eastbaymom - be sure to get a certificate of mailing and a return receipt. My son typed his appeal to UCSD last year and mailed it Certified/Registered mail.

Did your son get accepted after his appeal!!!
How is he doing if he is in UCSD, How is the workload and is it hard to get a good grade at UCSD!!!!

Yes, he got accepted. He missed the cutoff my 33 points so he was really close anyways. He had a tough 1st quarter but did a lot better 2nd quarter. It's not like high school where he was one of the better students. At UCSD everyone's at the top of their class so you have to really work even for average grades. Good study habits are so important, and it's also important to utilize available resources to seek help (tutors, TA's, profs, etc). You have to know when to seek help and where to go. UCSD has OASIS, a tutoring program for general math & sciences and study management. It's free and is available for calc, general & organic chem, bio, physics. The sessions meet twice a week for each subject for the duration of the quarter.
