hey guys, i wanna congratulate everybody on getting in (unfortunately i got rejected :( )

anyways, i was wondering how to appeal to UCSD. on the UC website, it says to "write a letter", but should I do anything on top of that? Also, can anybody help me out as to what the content of the letter should have?

Thanks, I'm really bummed out about not getting into UCSD, this was my 2nd college letter and my 1st rejection (got into davis woo)

for reference, my SAT score was a 2310, UC gpa was only 3.8 though (and i had a significant drop in GPA from 10th to 11th grade).

yeah i think i am going to appeal as well, i guess it cant really hurt. Plus it seems like it wont require too much work (no letter of recs, etc.)

i’m sorry you didnt get into davis, but im sure you’ll get into some more places!!

Remember, telling the admissions office they made a huge mistake is not going to help you. You must present new and compelling information that was not previously available to the admissions office. Review your original application thoroughly for errors or omissions.

yeahh. i think i’m going to call them first so they can review my application with me. they review it in detail (they tell you how many points were given for each part of your application etc.). if it seems like their decision makes sense, then maybe it’s pointless trying to appeal.

does being awarded National merit finalist count as compelling information? Also my 1st semester senior grades are signifcantly better than my 2nd semester junior year.

what do u guys think? other than an articulate letter, thats all i can think of

You were awarded national merit finalist and still got rejected? I think you should wait for UCLA’s and Berkeley’s responses, you are probably going to get into those schools. They’re ranked higher than SD anyway. =D
