Hello,
I am insert name, an incoming freshman at the University of Texas at Dallas. I wanted to reach out to you regarding some questions I had with the application process.
Start out by explaining your circumstances and when you got accepted and etc. Then, go into further detail of your accomplishments. You might be able to attach your resume if you would like (I don’t know how that would work out). Mention your volunteering hours and other notable perks of your resume. Mention your leadership if you have any or extracurricular activities. Lastly, mention your GPA (if it is a good thing to put), and ask them if you were lacking in a certain area of your application that could have caused you not to get the higher level. You can also explain your financial need, which is important. I never had to write an appeal, but I feel like these are some of the requirements you will definitely need in your letter/email. Definitely be sure to go back and look at the AES thread to see more responses that can aid you. Good luck! Make SURE to display your interest for the college, and that it’s your top choice. If you have already accepted, definitely state that. It lets them know that you are interested and invested in continuing your education at UTD.
P.S. The reason you cannot message another person privately anymore is because you need to have 15 posts and become a junior member before you can PM someone! that’s why it didn’t work out for me either.
All the points @icymusca made were on point. I wouldn’t include the resume, though, because you want to keep your appeal brief and concise but not at the expense of its meaning. If they want to see more of you, they can pull up your application so no need for the resume.
Tell them how the stipend will benefit you (maybe what you would use it for) and how it adds up over 8 semesters. End with asking them what the next steps are and a possible hear back date? and say you are available if they want to contact you.
good luck!
@icymusca @stevestar888 I cannot thank you guys enough! You were a huge help!
