Appealing an SAT II score...(How should I tell Dartmouth)?

Hi CCers,

I am getting a hand-scoring of my October 2009 Math 2C exam. I scored 620 and I am almost positive my score was not that bad. The problem is Dartmouth requests scores be sent before the deadline and the hand-scoring verification won't be completed until after the deadline. I could send the 620 and hope the score changes, but I don't want to risk it. Should i tell them that another score may arrive after the deadline? However, if I did that, I would be indicating I have a bad score and since Dart uses score choice, I don't want to do that. I am taking the Jan. 23 SAT so my testing won't be complete until mid February (scores will arrive then), so I don't think it will delay my app. but it would be confusing. BTW, my two other SAT IIs are 770 and 710 (I think their is a decent chance my math 2 was above 710. I have a feeling something went wrong with my scantron).

Thanks!

Dartmouth only needs two SAT IIs, so just send along those two you already have (which are already competitive). It’s probably a better idea to get your scores in on time, rather than delay and wait for a score that may not even make a difference to the ones they look at.

I’m probably gonna do that, but the thing is Im also applying to Harvard and Northwestern and Harvard requires 3 and Northwestern recommends 3. I have a 650 in Math 2 (first time w/ no prep) so I could send that but thats gonna seriously hurt my app. I have to send all scores to Northwestern so it won’t make a difference there but it will cause a probem for Harvard.
