Anyone have any luck appealing their award...

My EFC was 15k on FAFSA, but my Duke EFC is 40k. It looks like I'll be heading to my state school.

late repsone i know but…wow that sucks!! is duke usually this stingent about FA!!!

Let’s just say Duke FA isn’t the best in the world, or even close to be.
Many people complain about Dukes FA, I just hope it gets better, fast!
I hope you have great at the college you are going to.
How did your appeal go?

My D appealed, no relief, she is headed for our state flagship.

Meanwhile Wall Street types are paying for their kids with government provided bonus money. America has a “Noble Caste”, immune to considerations of performace and morality.

Life is unfair.

I wonder how the cascade of bright, former middle class students to their state schools is going to effect graduate and professional school admission? Will private graduate and professional schools disrspect pubic university students who have higher test scoes than privately educated students? Will there be a point here they feel they have to “defend the franchise” by setting quotas on the number of public school students admitted?

If your FAFSA EFC is 15k, there should be something wrong with your css profile. Duke follow the EFC for your financial aid. Last year, my s’s financial aid was much less than the year before, we appealed and end up with adjusted to EFC. The told us they made some mistake on double count my assets. So, try to appeal and you will see what happened. Good luck.
