Appealing Financial Aid

Hi,
Loyola MD is my sons first choice. He did get a very nice merit award of 17k per year but that is the only FA the school is offering him. Our EFC is 46k (nuts, but that's another thread...). If the 17k is all Loyola is offering then it is likely I will tell him to go elsewhere. He has a very generous offer from UConn and St Lawrence and an offer from Elon as well.

Loyola says he is not eligible for either subsidized or unsubsidized loans.

Under this scenario, I will have to rule Loyola out. The website says they do not entertain appeals of FA awards. My question is whether or not this is true or not. If they were able to come up with 8 or 9k in merit and loans then the school would be doable for us and he could go where he really wantss to go. GPA is 3.7, SAT of 2070.

Thoughts?

How did your son receive his financial aid award so quickly? Did it come in the acceptance packet?

Hi I received my acceptance letter, but am still waiting on an award/financial aid letter. When did your son receive his letter with his merit award?

Early Action financial aid was mailed 3/15/2013. Were you RD?

Number sounds right. Your too successful.
