So September 15th was my school's Pell Grant Census date. I registered for my classes, and waitlisted many more on September 4th. October 5th rolls around and they add five more classes to the roster, which I snatch up (three at least), bringing my total credit hours to 12. Because I only had one class registered prior to September 15th, my Pell Grant for this semester is only $594. Is there a way to appeal that and get the full amount for this semester? My entire budget is now thrown out of whack.

If I can't appeal the process, is there any chance of getting that money next semester (doubtful, but I figured I'd ask).

…and thank you, I looked into it as well and didn’t find anything like that listed on my school’s website, but I sent an email to the Financial Aid office. Appreciate the responses.

Best of luck to you. Some schools take a really hard line on the census date, and others will do an override if you can prove that you were trying to get classes during prior to the census date … for example, if you were on waiting lists.

As for the 2nd question, the answer is no - but if summer is a trailer (that is, still part of the 2014-2015 financial aid year), you would be able to use remaining eligibility then.
