Appealing to UCLA

hey cc - ers I really need your help on this one. After researching and going through this forum I noticed that a lot of people, well at least the ones that won the appeal, posted up their success stories on this forum. I know that UCLA explicitly states that improved senior grades won't change a decision....but what about a MAINTAINED one? I can't think of any other new information except a leadership position senior year, not to mention I totally forgot to put clubs in my extracurriculars. FOR THOSE THAT HAVE WON APPEALS PLZ SUGGEST ANY NEW INFO U USED IN CASE I'M FORGETTING SOMETHING.

ps...
it'd b nice for those that won the appeal to post what they wrote about and help us ALL out.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

No, maintaining grades isn't enough either. There would have had to have been (oh wow, verbose) something wrong with your application (e.g. you totally omitted an entire section of your application) for you to appeal. You also could have done something AMAZING (e.g. winning the national debate championship) after your application was sent that you couldn't have included.

How many clubs did you not put in? If you didn't put in any, then it's DEFINITELY worth the appeal. If you didn't put in one- don't even try based on that.

well if i remember correctly, there were only five spots for ec and I took up three of them with percussion band, tennis, and track. I just completely forgot that clubs were considered ec's. so I guess I could have only added two more

Eh. You could try though I don't think it'd get you through the appeal door.

If you yourself are thinking that not much has changed, it's probably not worth the appeal IMO.

You must think about this from the shoes of the adcom. Is there something the appeal includes that wasn't there the first time and can merit an admittance?

You should appeal then. At least you have a good reason why you should.

If appeals don't work and you got your heart set on UCLA, suck up your pride and go to a JC for two years, ace your classes, then transfer. You'll save money as well.

I'm considering appealing too. I guess there's no harm in doing it except most of them don't follow through :(

i need to appeal too. cept i dont know what "new and compelling" information there is about me..
Do you guys know what type of information would be compelling to them? Personal hardships which led to bad grades and such?

Yes, that might merit an appeal.
