Appealing waitlist decision, is it worth it?

UW is my top school. Is it worth it to file an appeal? I’m out of state (California).
my stats:
-unweighted GPA: 3.69
-weighted GPA: 3.88
-ACT: 28
-SAT: 1850
-took 5 AP classes and 3 honors classes, got 3’s and 4’s on all.
-did 2 sports every year. Was varsity tennis/track for 3 years and was captain and president of the tennis team my senior year.
It seems like you can only file an appeal if you have new info that would change anything, but I don’t. I just worked really hard & really wanted to get in.

Usually you don’t “appeal” a spot on a waitlist. You accept the spot, and send updates indicating new accomplishments. If it truly is your first choice and you will attend for sure (regardless of aid) if you get in, the tell them that. Tell yor GC too, and ask them if they can call and pass that info on. But your ACT is at the 50% mark, and you are OOS, so that probably isn’t helpful. If you are full pay, that might help, though. Can’t hurt to try.

If I send an appeal and it gets rejected, do I lose my spot on the waitlist?

Would it be helpful to do things like take the act again? My scores are from the beginning of my jr year and I know I could get a 30 now, I just never thought I needed to retake it (I took it 2x and got the same score)

Appeals are for people who have been rejected. That is not you. I doubt they will take a new score now.

Really? Their website says waitlisted freshman can appeal

Coming from a private college prep school. Our counselors have told us to always appeal waitlists as it gives you a much higher chance of acceptance.

really?? most people say the chance is very slim
