I got waitlisted at the UW about 2-3 weeks ago and I was super bummed. However I did apply for the waitlist and now I am doing the appeal since it does not hurt to try. Here is some of my info/stats:

Info: Male, Middle-Eastern, WA resident

Income: 200k+

Gpa: 3.45 (unweighted since my schools does not weight classes. Although I took college level Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, and UW English)

Best SAT sitting without super score: 1720 (Reading=520 Math=600 Writing=600)

Sports: 3 years of varsity soccer, captained the 3rd year. Play select soccer as well and captain that team too.

Volunteer: Leader of the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board. We do community service such as pick up around the town, clean up parks, collect and donate food, clothes, etc. Also set up parades, and holiday themed events for the city of Mill Creek.

Awards: Member of the NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars) since sophomore year.

Essay: Talked about how travelling to the Middle-East showed me how I should be grateful for the opprotunities I have here in the states.

In my appeal letter I mention how I am a hard worker, dont take easy classes such as art/pe repetitively, and how I am basically a well-rounded person and try my hardest. I dont mention anything about hardships or family matters to make my lowish gpa/sat seem forgivable since I am certain they have heard a million different stories. As of right now I am having a teacher (Sophomore and Junior year English teacher) write me a letter of recomendation since they allow that for appeals. My Gpa remained practically the same this year's grades as well.

So my question is: What do you people here think the chances of me getting into the UW are? Will my appeal be rejected but enhance my waitlist chances? Or should I just give up and accept that I am not going to be accepted at all?

Thanks
