My only problem
is that im gonna have to knock a few off ;( and add a few safeties…

I checked that out. Turns out they base their FA budget on the previous year’s budget and balblanla

As folks on these boards say you love the school you go to. I’m thinking the converse is also true and when you actually enroll there the school may start liking you to find you FA. If there is attrition at the school next year which is certain, that may release some FA also.

Swissbrit, I think Blair, Berkshire, and even Kent could all count as safety schools :)

Kent and Blair certainly not safeties. But Berkshire is in my opinion.

If you don’t ask for FA, I agree with Josh.

Yeah but I might need some…

Oh, well, asking for FA does make things harder. What grade are you applying to?

I’ll probably be applying as a repeat 9th Grader

Do you guys think it improves your chances to apply as a repeat? Wondering, b/c I <3 the 2014 ;)

I guess so, because different applications for different grades are separated. You may stand out in the 9th grade pool if you actually have one more year of great experience.

But generally, the acceptance rates for 9th and 10th grade are the same.

Yeah I agree with Gonastop.

swissbrit, why would you apply as a repeat 9th grader? Why not just apply for 10th grade?

Well basically because I really want to get the whole package :)

Yeah, but they accept just as much 10th graders as they do 9th graders, so you wont be the only one transitioning. You’d just be wasting a year of your life.

Maybe so but still I think I would bennefit more academically if I were to repeat the 9th grade but I’m not against applying for 10th grade either, for example I might apply as a 10th grader to the big schools and as a repeat to the smaller schools.

Hi this is my first time applying for private school for 2011, but Ill be applying as a 10th grader.
When should I take my SSATs? I know for Exeter you have to take it after September of this year, but is it like that for all schools? Also, do I have to send the score report from the testing organization?

Also, does it hurt your chances if you took the SSAT more than once?

thanks for answering :)

it has to be taken the current year that you’re applying… like if you’re applying in 2010-11 for entrance in fall of '11, you should take it from 2010-11 (from the academic school year). this means usually september - january. (feb = too late for most schools).

it doesn’t hurt your chances to take it more than once, but taking it every month for 2 years could be a bit excessive, you know? hahaa

oohh okay thanks.
great, cause im already applied for june… which now won’t count for anything lol.

should i ask my test center to send the scores directly to the school ?
