<p>do you think the timing of an application has some bearing on its chances? for example, if your application is at the top of the pile, the admission officer is fresh.</p>
<p>ummmm.. maybe...</p>
<p>Maybe...</p>
<p>But I have this theory that it also depends on who you are read after. I.e. if the adcom reads someone's app who has like an 890, 3.1, terrible recs, etc. and then your app is read, you will look much better than you probably are (because they will be suconsciously comparing you). However, if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones, and are read after someone with a 1580, 4.3, best essays ever, then you will look not as good as you are (in subconscious comparison). </p>
<p>And my theory totally sucks for everyone if it's true because there is absolutely nothing you can do to ameliorate it- it is all on chance. So... good luck. :o</p>
<p>They usually read by school, or at least by region</p>
<p>yup, bad day or that time of the month could = reject</p>
<p>guys.. i really don't think these little "factors" are significant at all......
ok the apps are read by region..
and as much as these admissions officers are human, they are really professional. if you weren't meant to get in, even if you're read after a "bad" applicant, you still WON'T get in....
i think it's really stupid to speculate over this.
brown is known to look at the personality/character of the applicant... and to some extent it is true that if the reader feels that you are a great match for brown you will be accepted.. so many things have to weighed out in the admissions process but the whole "what time of day", "who you are read after or before" seems to me to be a verrryyyyy minor factor.
i guess this all goes with "luck"...</p>
<p>"yup, bad day or that time of the month could = reject" ---> that = a stupid theory</p>
