Application Cancellation?

I am a newly admitted student at Cal Poly SLO, and I was wondering if I am at risk of getting my application pulled. At the end of the first semester of my senior year, I dropped my Honors Biotechnology Class (not a core class required for graduation or anything). I know the terms and conditions say you have to complete all classes written as “in progress” on your application. However, I did notify the school (sent admissions a letter and email in January) saying I was dropping and I still got in later in March. Am I at risk of getting my application pulled still? I also will possibly have a C in my one semester government class. Thanks so much for your opinions, this whole situation has me worried:(

Please anybody :(

I don’t know. But at a junior college they take it more seriously if you are missing a class. I know some1 who got dropped for missing one class he said he would have.

You will not have your admission rescinded for a C. Anything lower, maybe – but not a C. With regards to the dropped class, you did notify them and got accepted anyway. It seems like you did exactly what you were supposed to do and gave the school full disclosure. You have two choices: (1) Call the school and confirm that they received the letter and email and confirm your acceptance. This will lay all your fears to rest. With regards to the C, I would not bring it up at this time. I suggest that you work your tail off, speak to your teacher and do everything to get at least a B. Don’t give up now – it is too early. Or (2) Do not call and let the chips fall where they may knowing that you gave them full disclosure. I would do what makes you most comfortable. I’d probably call.

Thanks so much for your input. I finished the semester written as “in progress” on my application. I just did not complete the one listed as “planned.” I just was not sure how strict they are about that sort of thing

Did you call?

Yes and they said they would have to review my transcripts and re evaluate because I didn’t make the application change before January 15th. So I’m still unsure:(

Best of luck. I think it will be OK. They are human beings and they are not in the business of purposefully denying folks opportunities. Just keep regular contact with them and ask them if you can provide explanatory letters or some kind of input into the process in your favor. Never hurts to ask.
