Application Change

Originally when I was doing all my applications last winter I put under my extracurriculars that I was planning on participating in spring track this year. At the time I had planned on doing it, but since then my schedule has become much busier, and I've learned that the new track coach at our school is not nearly as good as the one I had before, and that the team is not as much fun as a result. so I have decided to just pass it up this year. Should I e-mail the schools I sent that application to, or is it really not a big deal (track was last in my list of 7 or so extracurriculars on my common app). If I do e-mail them how would that look to them? Thanks in advance.

its not a big deal at all; especially if you intended to originally do track... ur wasting your time and the admissions office time to email them

Yea normally I wouldn't care, I just don't want to get in nabbed for "lying on my application" or something along those lines.

So long as you really did "plan" to participate, you weren't lying.

Truth be told, they probably won't let something like that affect their decision either way, considering you hadn't actually done anything.

Agree that you shouldn't worry about it. The colleges are not doing FBI background checks, and you weren't lying when you said it. It will never come up, and nobody would care anyway.
