I have a quick question about deadlines in regards to transcripts. When colleges list their application deadlines online, does this mean that they want to receive all materials (e.g. transcripts, recommendations, application) by that date or does it simply mean that the online application must be submitted by then? I ask this because even though my school sends transcripts electronically, it can sometimes take them 1-2 weeks to send them.

For most deadlines, all materials part of the application must be sent in by the deadline. This means transcripts, recommendations, and the application. Some schools require that you request all transcripts and recommendations at least 3 weeks in advance so they have them prepared on time.

To the best of my knowledge, typically the only things that can be sent in after the deadline are test scores that are not self-reported.

Thanks for the response. For some reason, my school doesn’t let students request transcripts if they have no submitted their application yet. Not sure why this is the case.
