Application essay word limits

Hi, I’ve done google searches and tried to find it in the brown web pages, but what are the word/ character limits for the application essays? I know the “tell us about yourself” is 500, but the “why brown” and activities list just had lines in the pdf form, no specified word limit. How many characters/ words will fit into that space? I’m starting on the essays, and I could spend four full pages talking about why I want to go to brown if I had the space… but I doubt I do.

Thanks a lot!

The "Why Brown" question about your academic interests has a 1500 character limit, including spaces.

The "Who interested you about Brown" question is 500 characters, including spaces.

The main essay that asks you to "tell about yourself" has a 5000 character limit, but the online application leaves the door open for more because it just says to attach the document rather than copy & paste in the provided essay box if you go over. Mine was exactly one page, 612 words and about 3,400 characters (with spaces).

There wasn't a limit on the activities/awards one. Mine was about 3 pages, font size 12, single-spaced, Times New Roman. I only included what meant the most to me.

Thank you so much!
