Well, I've never asked for an application fee waiver before but my friends do it all the time so I was wondering if anyone has done that for UIUC and got it? I'm planning to transfer to that school and I want to know what are the requirements to apply for a fee waiver (US citizen?, number of dependants?)... My mom told me I shouldn't ask for it but I thought it would be nice if I don't use my mom's money one in a while.
If we apply to it, we will send the fee waiver along with our application, right?
How will we know if they accept it? If they don't accept, will they not review our application?.
I'm really curious.. Please elaborate on how we go about doing it...
Thank you so so much

Oh, and I'm an international student..

P/S: Merry Christmas to you guys...

Yes, I used a application fee waiver at UIUC, this is actually what caused my application not to meet the priority date… as it was the only material that arrived well after Nov 1st.

UIUC prefers one to use this app fee waiver which I did myself:

Print it

Thank you…I have some more questions though…
Do they accept your application fee waiver? How should I know if they reject it? Do I have to be US citizen to apply for it? How should we know if we’re qualified for that?

They accepted mines, they will likely accept yours if its approved by your counselor… you and your counselor have to fill out the forum.

Application fee waiver will appear as recieved if its accepted.

Thanks for the information…
I’m transferring though… And I’m not an US citizen so I need to prove that I’m financially qualified to even get admitted… The reason I want to have my application fee waived is so that I don’t have to use my parents’ money too much… Do you think I can say that?.. Is that a good reason?..What did you write in your reasons application fee should be waived?..

I’m sorry if I’m being too nosy…^^

My efc is 0, so was financially elgible for a fee waiver.

Although you reasons are to be generous towards your parent(s), I don’t think a fee waiver for that reason would be accepted unless financially unable to pay.

On it’s face, I’d say that since you are an international applicant who has to prove you’re financially able to afford the tuition and fees at UIUC, a fee waiver request, usually given to people who demonstrate financial hardship, would not be successful.

Thanks Balthezar, Coolbreeze,
I figure so…=_=" what is efc btw?
