I’m out of state and I applied for Florida Atlantic University (FAU) for the fall. My application says “withdrawn” and a new application has appeared under it for the spring term of 2018 and it says accepted. Does this mean I was rejected from fall? Why would it say “withdrawn” as the status? I did not even apply for spring however it says a decision has been made and I have been accepted for it.
Would I be able to start at my local University and then transfer out of state to FAU after a semester since I was accepted for spring?
Thanks
You may want to ask FAU directly.
I’m calling as soon as they open tomorrow. I found this all out minutes before their office closed.
@JSwag98112 I can imagine how disappointing that is to see. Were you ever accepted for the fall or did your app status go from a pending/withdraw state to accepted for the spring of 2018? I am not at all familiar with FAU but I have had an experience at another university. My son was not accepted for the fall term but accepted for the following spring. Apparently, if you are on the “bubble” meaning your stats aren’t quite good enough to be admitted but they are also not bad enough that they want to lose you they do this. And the reason they do this is because as a spring admit your stats don’t affect their admission statistics that they publicly report. So, it’s a win win for the university. I’m not implying that’s what FAU is doing in this situation, just relaying what happened in our situation. My S decided not to accept their offer of admission and is attending somewhere else. Let us know what you find out. Hope you get the news you want to hear. Good luck!
@pkchamp89 My fall application went from pending to “withdraw” and then a new application showed up under it in which I did not apply for that said I was accepted for the spring term and congratulations. Your explanation makes perfect sense. Do you know if your son was able to start at another University and then transfer to that one when the time came since he was accepted for the spring term? Thanks!
@JSwag98112 Where you able to call today and get some clarification from the admissions office? Since you are already guaranteed admission to that university for the spring term, I would imagine all you have to do is accept the offer and pay the deposit. Maybe taking classes for the fall term at a local community college. Making sure of course to verify all this with FAU admissions first. Try to take classes that will transfer to FAU. That way you save yourself some money on credits. My son accepted admission to a university his past fall and is still there. It’s a perfect fit and he loves it. So… Sometimes everything works out.
my son got the same thing and he called the school and the told him he was put into the jump start program that starts in June. They take a couple classes to start off with and if they maintain a C average they are a accepted into the fall term.
