ok i know nu uses the common app and its own institutional app. can i use a mix of forms from both apps? like i want to use the common app and the nu supp, but use the nu school report instead of the common app one. o, and i have one teacher rec from common app and one using the nu teacher rec. is this ok?

I think they want you to keep everything uniform. Meaning, if you use the commonapp, use all of the common app's forms.

yeah i think it would get confusing and unnecessarily hectic for them to receive different application forms so just stick to one

Why are you making it so complicated? Nothing is to be gained from mixing and matching and will only confuse the adcoms and ruin the entire reason for having two different versions of an application.

Pick Common App or pick Northwestern App. Thats it.

Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

I actually emailed NU admissions in October asking this same question; in my case, I preferred the Common App's essay prompts but liked Northwestern's teacher recs. I asked if it was alright to mix and match the forms, and NU responded by saying that they strongly preferred applicants to use either all forms from the Common App or all forms of NU's app. In my opinion, "strongly preferred" means "you'd damn well better do this or else." So. . . I would make sure you're consistent in whichever forms you use. :)
